A new man on the watch. In Canada

Years have passed, and as exhausted as we are of politics, it's refreshing to have all the best guesses turned sideways for a change. It makes one wonder if the media hyperbole is as exacting as it claims. What's great is, Canada, and it's youthful exuberance, has finally kicked out of office the conservative/boring/non-eco/staunch fiscal spenders/fuck I hate those guys/why didn't I kill that kid at recess in elementary school when I had the chance, when they couldn't throw me away for life cause I was just a kid.. Thank fucking god, if there is one. This asshole, Stephen Harper, would have sold the earth as we know it, because he thinks the end is either near, or ripe for the picking ..This man has no motivation to keep us all alive and well.  Have you seen anything that looks similar to a bit of love/life or sentiment in his face?. Honestly?. He's the most boring/best provider guy I've ever witnessed. I only hope his kids live thru the boredom. And if they don't, I hope he's not there to comfort them. What could they possibly benefit from that experience. He's already dead to me...can't imagine what his kids or wife think..What he did to enable the Alberta gang rape of thousands of hectares of wild bird refuges was nothing short of 'Fuck you Canada! I know what's best'. What an asshole. Rest in hell Stephen Harper, as I know you will. A man who can't speak what he's thinking has no right to be in public office representing those who he's supposed to be speaking for. I'm sure you're embarrassed now. And so you should be.

More days off for Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert

I'm up in Canada, and enjoy the play that the Daily Show and The Colbert Report have with Lame Street media by and large. But increasingly, I'm finding myself more frustrated with the them than the target of their humour. I have a giggle when I get home from a hard days' work mostly, but when I tune in and find that they're on another holiday ( week off), I'm more frustrated than than I was before I began my quest. What is with these guys?. I enjoy the heckling they do, but could they work regular time schedule?. The people they purport to represent work exhaustively. They in turn seem to work about 70 percent less. Guys! I've I'm gonna like you and and relate to you, you gotta be a bit liek me...like you work a bit.. Come on. Get with the program. Don't make me watch reruns all the time when I'm needing a comedy fix. I'll find someone else to make me laugh if you're not available a bit more often.

Farley and the Fauna. I believe

I have to admit that lately I've been thinking about life and longevity for us humans of the planet. When  I read a book like Farley Mowetts' "Sea of Slaughter", I get all worked  up. It's not the peoples' quest for a good life that bothers me... It's the rape and servitude of anything in abundance that brings me to my knees.
.
Our so-called higher calling is the bane of our own existence. If we persist in capitalizing (where did that come from) on everything that comes our way, we'll be in short supply of all things soon enough. We have a penchant for gobbling up anything that sits still. And with the advent of the gun and rifle, most living things seem to be sitting still, except on occasion where we'll kill each other for no apparent reason. Then we're told to understand by way of the news media. They talk about bravery and sacrifice. They may even support new controls. Perhaps they'll make a reference to other older crimes or injustices.

Society seems to be sick. Perhaps we're sick of each other, too many rats in the cage,  so to speak, and I can understand that. Perhaps even agree with that. Have you attended to a concert lately that doesn't have reserved seating? Look out and then understand what I'm saying.

The bottom line is this. When you give something to a human being, or they take it, as it may be, it can never be taken back. We don't work that way. We want, then get, and then want more. That's just the way we're wired.
I once read a story of the Blue Mountains in the States where a legal restriction had been placed on hunting Black Bears because they where close to zero in population in that area. The consensus with the public was that if a family had it in their lineage that they hunted black bears, then they shouldn't be prohibited from hunting these bears, even if they were the last ones or possibly the last one.

Long live the bear.
Lose so-called heritage.

Love.. But then again

Most men think about love as something that represents and defines a male. The truth is that love belongs to no one person,  and avoids most if we really look at the issue. It's fleeting for most people, even those in  relationships. If for a moment we drop the ball, get lazy, were tardy, or say something to embarrass or humiliate our partner, the clock starts ticking.  And be mindful of that ticking. If you take the course of rapid damage control, you're on a good path, but never repeat the error lest you become boring to boot.

Some things can work out with time, and some things can be forgiven, but never forgotten. Be wary of your words and actions if you wish for a relationship to pass the test of time. Never say the first thing that's on your mind, but the last thing that's on your mind. Hopefully it's so mundane you won't create a controversy.

You can be expressive and open, but never repeat something you heard from a friend , or from something on the television. Try to be individual in your thoughts and ovoid being the guy that spouts off the latest belief.

Never watch porn on the internet, cause the real thing is better not to have, than the unreal thing is to not have. Besides,  you'll look like a fool, which you are probably already. If your sex life isn't what you'd imagined, then move on or talk about a change. If you're doing the same thing all the time, you're as much at fault as your partner. The problem now is, how do you change it? Not easy. However, if you truly love your partner, you can clean the slate and start again. Romance is there for everyone to embrace. Say or do something funny or scary. Let your partner now it's not life altering, so they're not afraid, and enjoy the effects. Get into a little mischief and enjoy what follows.

Above all, praise your lover for the things they do for you and others. Remember that this person is not on this earth for you, but many. Enjoy them and celebrate who they are, because if they leave your life you can start reading this all over again.

To everyone who's got it and figured it out, "way to go", and keep it up..

Gas/Fines have got to go

Since I was a young man, I've been a bicycle commuter. I did it at first for economic reasons, but later because I found it invigorating and at the same time relaxing. Today, with many years on the road, I still think of the experiences I've enjoyed , and also the the friendship of people I wouldn't have met otherwise.

As the people around me complain about th price of gas ( and it's always news to me ) , I'm amused to briefly realize that I have none of there concerns regarding fuel costs. I am aware of many list items that can cause me anxiety but it's never gasoline.

I'd love to point out statistics here that prove the production of oil is completely futile in the end game, but readers can look that up themselves with the advent of the internet. What we need to do, as a species, is use the smarts we were given and look back 50 years, and then look forward 50 years.  When energy is less easily extractable,  corporations will put the cost on us. What interest should an oil company have in free and  endless energy,  like solar, tidal, or thermal? None! As long as big business has the elected peoples attention - which they will until the populace changes that - what do we think would change?

Motoring/driving has become a cash cow for most governments. Do you remember, some years ago, when the enforcement of traffic laws were in place to save lives and reduce injury?. In short, the system was about safety and deterrents, not about making money to fund the local or states/provincial governments. What we have now is a system that tolerates law breaking until the coffers are low, then, when needed, go out in force and rake in the dough with tickets and enforcement.

This Draconion shit favours the cyclist because we're hard to monitor and impossible to fine. We enjoy a level of acceptance or tolerance that motorists don't.  In short, we skirt most of the laws entailed in the motor vehicle act.

Cyclist get slack because the powers that we elect, and their underlings are of the mind we have no significance.  But beware. There is a force amassing out there that will call for a reckoning one day.  When all the autos do the right thing, and you have no revenue for misdeeds, where will your money come from?

Viva velorution!. But while that's happening, lets reduce government powers , and hold then more accountable. Not just now or then, but aways and forever.

The next time you vote locally, remember you're the government.  Not the people you elect. They are there to do what you wish...And if they don't remove them. If you have no system in place to remove them.  get one. Removing an elected official is more important than electing one. Remember that! If you have anything to contribute to the democratic process its that you can get rid of a person spouting shit and promises faster than you can vote that person in.

The trouble with Ron Paul

Well there is not really. Except to say that nobody likes tough medicine. I'm not sure that Americas' situation is reversible, but, if it is, then this is the guy to do it. He's totally spot on when it comes to the finances. Have you seen anybody in the Republican race take him to task on anything he says. Not A. Why would they. They know nothing now and have no lineage to question what Dr. Paul says. Though, if they were to check his details, I'm sure they'd find him accurate.

It seems to me that the USA wants a celebrity..someone that is good looking, slick and ignorant of facts, throws caution to the wind, and possibly, someone who is in denial, much the same as the populace. The entitled don't want to be dis-entitled, and they fight harder than the poor. They are louder and stronger by virtue of there present position.

The United States has one last chance, and that is Ron Paul, or someone who thinks the way he does. Why would a nation, who's birth came from the wisdom of thoughtful men like Jefferson and Franklin, decide, after over two hundred years of success, that their thesis is no longer warranted. Get back to the basics before you cripple us all.
